China Media Group (CMG) on Monday launched a 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) television channel at the group’s broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), giving audience a visual enjoyment comparable to that of a movie theater.
The 4K UHD channel broadcasts from 10:00 to 24:00 on its inauguration day, and will adjust to its regular broadcasting schedule from 6:00 to 24:00 starting from Tuesday.
The channel provides audience with a well-diversified combination of UHD contents including documentaries, sports events, variety shows, TV dramas and cartoons.
During the National Day holiday, the channel will feature a series of contents including documentaries Aerial China, The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, music concert A Tune for the New Era - Motherland and Me.
At present, cable TV users in 15 provinces, regions and cities including Beijing, Guangdong and Shanghai can watch CCTV’s 4K UHD channel by using a 4K HD TV and installing a HD set-top box.
The application of 4K UHD technology marks a major upgrade of HD technology. The physical resolution ratio and pixel dots of 4K UHD technology are four times higher than those of Full HD technology which is widely used for the time being.
The launch of 4K UHD also marks an important step forward in the CMG’s efforts to build the group into a new type world-class media group with strong dissemination capabilities and major influence. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181001...
